“And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.” (2 Peter 2:7-8 KJV)
We all know the story and tragedy of Lot. Lot was the nephew of Abraham who had to separate himself due to strife. Lot also impregnated his two daughters and that was how Ammon and Moab were born.
The story in the Bible has it that Lot’s daughters made him drunk those two times and then had sex with him. So people blame the immorality on the drunkenness, but beg to defer.
Uriah was also made drunk by David and yet he refused to go into his house to sleep with his wife, having been in the war front for so long.
I defer because our text reveals that Lot dwelling among them vexed his righteous soul by their unlawful deeds which he saw and heard. The two main gates to your heart and life for that matter are your eyes and ears. You will ultimately repeat consciously or unconsciously the things you hear and see. Jacob made animals to see spotted rods and over time they produced spotted animals.
If you fail to guard your heart with all diligence by mounting guard over your eyes and ears, you will manifest what you see eventually, and in a helpless manner for that matter.
As for the story of Lot, I would say this, what a man does when he is drunk is what he always wanted to do
