Luke 17:1-4

“If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.” (Romans 14:15)

The Christian life is a life we must live with the utmost care, not just for ourselves alone, but also because of the people around us who watch us beyond our knowledge. If we refuse to pay attention to the way we live our lives, we will become stumbling blocks to people, thereby becoming instruments of temptation in the hands of the devil.

Jesus said this without mincing words – that it will be better for the person who allows temptation to come through him/her to have been tied to milestone and thrown into a deep sea. This warning by our Lord is scary! Yet we have not taken it as seriously as we should. As believers, some of the things we have to stay away from; may not necessarily be sinful, but they can lead others to temptation.

We must trust the Holy Spirit to help us live our lives conscious of people around us so that we don’t become a reason for their falling. We need to constantly remind ourselves that we are the light and people are looking up to us as sources of encouragement and direction. We should use our lifestyle to draw men to the Lord. If we lift Him up in our lives, He will surely attract men to God.
Always ask the Lord to help you live conscious of the fact that your life will either draw men to Him or repel them.
