“And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, what a word is this! For with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they came out” KJV. (Luke 4:36)
The subject of authority is really vast and wide, but the aim of this series is to help us position ourselves in such a way that we will be bold to exercise authority. It is so crucial for you to know that your authority will be constantly resisted by the devil each time and in every way. It behoves on you therefore to make sure you are not pushed to a corner where you become voiceless and void of power.
One major way to operate spiritual authority is to be an authority. Being an authority means being well vested in a subject matter to the point where you become authoritative in it.
It comes by study and constant practice. When you take up a subject and make it your goal to study it in and out, when you go to the deepest depth in that matter and become as vast as you can in your pursuit of it’s understanding; you will become an authority in that matter. When people now look for your opinion regarding a particular subject, and must hear you before they make a conclusion or draw the curtain on it, then you are becoming or have become an authority.
The result is, when you speak you will be very bold, confident and authoritative. You will literarily shine when you speak or teach on that subject. There was a way the Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes taught the law, and it was fair enough. But when Jesus arrived the scene, He taught with so much force and power in His words and voice, so they knew He was an authority in the matters of the law.
Whenever you are knowledgeable on a subject of spiritual importance, you will be eared by demons, because they will know that you know what you are doing or saying. This is one crucial way to express and exercise authority.
