Luke 5:1-7
What prompts our decisions – the voice that directs us in what we do – matters. If we do anything at the command of a voice other than that of the Lord, success will be far-fetched. Even if we seem to have results, they may be temporal. But if it is at the word of God, the result will surely startle us.
Simon and his crew, professional fishermen, had toiled all night in vain. Upon daybreak, Jesus, the son of a carpenter, gave them instructions to let down their nets for a catch. He did not ask them to do a new thing, He simply instructed them to do the same thing they had been doing all night long. But this time around, the difference was that they let down their nets at the word of the Creator of the fishes and there was a “net-breaking catch”.
We must seek to hear God on all issues of our lives. We must do things depending on our expertise and experience. Rather, we must trust in Him and acknowledge Him in all things, so that He can direct our steps. If He guides us, we will experience “outstanding victory” in all areas of life, even in those aspects we struggle on our own to get results.
