Locals on the streets of Manbij on Friday commented on the Syrian Arab Army’s plans to enter the city.
"All of the Syrian Arab people in Manbij welcome the Syrian Arab Army to enter," one local said.
"No other than the Syrian Arab Army should enter Manbij city. We reject all foreign threats. We reject the existence of foreign members in this city [We only accept] the members loyal to the Syrian Arab Army, and the Syrian Arab Army itself," he added.
Another resident said that the people do not accept any occupier regardless of their motives. "We are the Syrian Arab Republic, and we would never accept an occupier, be it either Turkish or non-Turkish," he stated.
The SAA is planning to enter the northern city of Manbij, close to the border with Turkey, following a request from the Kurdish YPG for it to protect the location.
Meanwhile, reacting to the SAA's reported entrance in the city, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country was determined to "destroy" Kurdish militants in Manbij.
