"This is not a specific action, but an ongoing operation," the Israeli premier said about the operation.
"Hezbollah's intention was to infiltrate terrorists into our territory and this is part of a broad campaign they planned to occupy parts of the Galilee," he added.
The Israeli Defense Forces have already begun digging around the Lebanese border after they identified several areas with tunnels.
In response to the Israeli operation, the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL fores have mobilized their troops in order to monitor the IDF's movements along the border.
