I recently conviced a friend to create an Hive account. I even sent him some Hive to help them getting started.
But one month after joining the still didn't produce even a single post.
Most of Hive users are English speaking. The rest of the communities are 2 small. For example if I write in Hebrew only 2 or maybe 5 followers will understand. So in order to get to a wider audience people have to write in English instead of their naitive language. This is a major obsticle for everyone and even unbearable for many. I guess the positive point is that when user adoption grows and community grows there will be more options, like for the Spanish community.
Many stargers and very few friends - people are used to get exposure web2 social media where you usually interact more with people you know from real life. In Hive (again for the same reason of a yet small number of users or better say owners) its the opposite - few friends and many unknown. I guess that too will change with adoption size and also its a nice experience and an opportunity to wider the circle of friends and knowledge from all over the world.
It will always be on the blockchain - this is a major psychological issue. The fear from the finity. But when rationaly thinking of this - you can't really be sure if your data isn't saved on centralized platforms. Also evwn if your content is saved on the blockchain you can edit it and control what people will see in the frontends. It is a valid consideration that your data is completely public, but then again in a world copying and storing so fast and so much it is better to be aware of publicity than living in an illusion of fake privacy.
So in conclusion - if you have good content and want to speak out, I recommend to get over the challenges and write in Hive.
