The brightly-colored mandarin fish is a member of the drugnet family. The fish is small to see. The abundance of this fish is seen in the Riyuku Island area of the Pacific (Ryukyu Islands). Normally two species of mandarin are found in fish. Synchiropus splendidus and S. Picturatus. Synchiropus splendidus species of fish have blue color. They are blue-colored due to Chromatophores crystallization of the skin Cyanophore. There are more light reflections on their skin, which makes this fish very interesting.

Mandarine fishes prefer to live between coral reefs, especially lagoons and coral reefs. The length of Manadari Fish up to 6 Centimeter. Their movement is very slow. They usually search for food on the bottom of the ocean. So they can not be seen. They eat food during the day. Their main food is small crustaceae, gastropad (snail species), poultice worm, other small invertebrates and fish eggs.
