I don't know whether to laugh in exaggeration or to shout out of frustration but no matter the one i chose, it won't still answer the prevailing question that millions of Nigerians are asking over the recent purchase of 10 fire fighting trucks at a whopping cost of 12 billion naira.

Just over the weekend the government through the aviation minister announced the procurement of 10 fire fighting trucks that would be deployed to the three major international airports in Nigeria located in Lagos, Abuja and Kano state.

I wonder how they monstered the temerity and boldness to announce such news without considering how people would feel over the unscrupulous price they claimed to have purchased the trucks.

Maybe they thought that we are fools that won't research how much such trucks are being sold or they just knew that their authoritative democratic government would never tolerate any questioning as they use thuggery and threat to silence opposition.

12 billion naira for ten trucks is
about $ 2.1 million for each truck. What is this if not pure embezzlement of public funds?

They abruptly refused the bill to slash down the cost of governance; from their food, travel, housing, purchase of new cars etc that is running in billions yet they are still siphoning money for their own insatiable desires.

These funds if properly managed can be plunged into other sectors like health, agriculture and education especially the tertiary institutions

Just last year, lecturers went on strike that lasted for almost a year and the government was reluctant to see to their grievances and was so quick to spend 12 billion naira on 10 trucks this year.

Clearly this shows that the government cares less about it's people. The same people that brought them into office.

These young people will graduate and join other thousands of unemployed graduates roaming the streets thriving for survival. Government should do better in managing the resources placed in their care. They should avoid over spending and embezzlement because the country suffers for every money allocated to it that was unaccounted for.
