I have been going to the beach back to back for the past few months with my children and it was all fun. The beach to me is a place of relaxation where I normally go to unwind from the week's stress.

It's more fun when we coincidentally run into few people that we know. My children met one of their classmates at the beach last month and they were so excited. Her name is Onume and she came with her parents to the beach. The parents were so happy to see me even though that was the first time they were meeting me. They shared their booth with me and wanted me to have a taste of everything they came to the beach with like food, snacks and drinks.

The presence of many people at the beach made the beach more enjoyable as you get to network, make new friends and atleast get entertained by the activities of others like those playing football, riding horses, swimming and so on.
Just yesterday my friends and I decided to go catch some little fun at the beach and also network. The beach is one place that you must see a lot of people to talk to about your business. But unknowingly to us, the state of the country have finally reach everybody's pockets.
At first we were shocked to meet an empty parking lot with no single car. My friend Oke was the first to notice it but we still gave it a benefit of doubt. I told Oke maybe they all parked inside the beach resort which was a silly and faint excuse because we all know that the resort doesn't have much space to accommodate the vehicles of all the people coming into the beach resort.
When we finally packed our car and walked into the resort it was as if the world ended and we were not aware of it. The picture below was the most scariest thing that I have ever witnessed in history of weekned activites. If it was during covid outbreak then it can be understandable but it isn't and to make matters worst it's WEEKNED.
Where did everybody go?
We decided to ask one of the waiters walking around and she told us that she too was surprised with the whole situation and it got her dumbfounded. The time then was 5pm so we will not say that we came to the beach too early. As we walked around the beach we were able to see two other families and believe me it wasn't enough to bring life to the beach.
In that instant I came to realise and appreciate the importance of people. If my children had tagged along they would have been bored snd beg to go back home unlike other days when I practically have to beg them for us to start heading home.
This was how lively the beach was last month
We spent just an hour and decided to go back home on time since we couldn't achieve the mission that brought us to the beach resort. I was just few blocks from my house when I decided to stop by the supermarket and get some groceries. To my utmost dismay I noticed that the parking lot of the supermarket was not filled up as always especially on a weekned like this.
This is the same supermarket that i always struggle to get a packing space during the weekneds. It was at this moment that i realised that the inflation has eaten deep into the economy as people are minimizing their expenses. Dollar kept going higher against naira thus the unending hike in commodities. People have to think twice before stepping out of their home because they will end up spending more than they bargained for.
The weekend wasn't as much fun as it used to be and I hope things will return to normalcy soon.
