First of all i want to convey my profound gratitude to hive learners community for this wonderful newbies initiative programme aimed in helping newbies in hive navigate their way through hive.
WHAT IS GOAL SETTING?
Goal setting is the process of deciding what you want to achieve over a period of time. It first start with identifying something you want to accomplish and establishing measurable time frame to help you achieve it.
There is one prerequisite that is very necessary in setting of goals for better result which is that your goal must be SMART.
Smart is an acronym that means :
S : Specific your goal must have focus, understandable and clear.
M : Measurable Your goal must be quantified. How do i know if i have achieved my goal?
A : Achievable Your goal must be attainable. Have others done it and succeeded?.
R : Realistic This is to make sure that you are not making your goals based on fairly tales assumptions. Can it be achieved given the available resources and time alloted to it.
T : Timely Your goal must be time bound. It must have a start and end date.
WHY IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SMART GOALS.
The picture below is what we will use to address this sub topic. Look at the two men in the picture: one is very happy obviously he won a trophy while the other one is very frustrated. At the end of the goal duration it's either we are happy or frustrated.
Being frustrated often comes with not making smart goals whereas you can accomplish your goals and be happy when you set realistic and achievable smart goals.
Smart goals gives one a sense of direction ans help to avoid running round the circle. Imagine starting a journey and having no idea of where you are headed; productive time and energy would be lost. With your smart goals your eyes are on the ball.
Example of smart goal:
Mathew plans to build a mansion in the next two months. The resources he has was able to help me achieve this goal in two months.
John also want to build a mansion in the next two months. He doesn't have any resources that would help him achieve this result. He gets frustrated as he tried to manage the limited resources available and at the end of two months he didnt even get a condo talkmore of a mansion.
MY HIVE GOALS
My last post on hive almost didnt get any upvote until @lazy-panda came to my recue. I was flabbergasted at the amount of hive power and felt like giving him/her a hug. I know that kind of power didn't come over night but was achieved through being intentional, hardworking and consistent. That is why my hive goals for this two months would be :
Followers: i will be intentional about following great authors and studying them. This will aid me in my growth in hive. Also i will put in a lot of research and creativity in my posts to be able to amass more followers also.
Engagement: Hive is not a site where you can hop in, dump your post and hop out. You need to be fully engaged in atleast the activites of the communities of your niche. This will get me to be recognized and also aid in getting rewards on posts. I have made it a point of duty to always engage on atleast two posts per day no matter how busy i am.
Consistency: When i joined hive newly, i was only consistent for three months. I returned back to hive few months ago and my friend @nkemakonam89 whom started this journey with me but remained consistent has gone ahead of me and i will even call her a hive celebrity. She have achieved so much by being consistent in this space and i admired her a lot for this. She taught me the power of being consistent which is Growth.
To be consistent in hive, my goal is to post atleast once a day in any of my niche communities.
I am excited about these Smart goals of mine because they are achievable, they are realistic and measurable.
STRATEGIES TO DEPLOY TO HELP ME ACHIEVE MY GOALS
- Focus : to remain focus, avoid all distractions and put my eyes on the ball.
- Comment while on Transit: No matter how busy i am, there is always transit time. The time that i will be in the bus or train going to somewhere. That time will be a good time for me to engage on other people's posts and upvote them.
My post is getting too long already, see you in the next post.
