I have always been a lover of art and this comes from the fact that most of my imaginative stories were inspired by works of art. As a script writer, most of the stories that I have ever made up came about by just admiring a work of art and in so doing the nature opens up my mind to the world of stories that suit each work of art.

Last week friday, my children's school hosted another edition of their art exhibition and it was themed REFLECTION OF IDENTIFY; DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS.
When I got to the hall, I was spell bound at the many beautiful art work that the children were able to come up with. These art works ranges from paintings, drawings,decorative arts,canvas, mosaic and collage etc.
There are many parents that were present in this art exhibition because we were all passionate to know and see how our children were able to themselves and their value through art. It took me a while to locate my children's work and believe me I was so impressed and as i admired them I wondered the inspiration behind my first daughters drawing and my second daughter's collage art.
My first daughter, an 8 years old expressed her need to render help to the society by coming down from her helicopter through the helicopter rope ladder. This goes a long way to explain how safety is of paramount important to her as she said she cannot jump from the helicopter to avoid the risk of injury. Her willingness and eager to come down to rescue depicts her selfless attitude to the needs of others.
My second daughter, who is six years old made a collage art of a HOME.
According to her, the home is where everything starts including LOVE. Hence the popular cliche that says "No place like home".
Art is very important in all human endeavour because it brings out our vulnerability. You can sense what someone is going through or what they are thinking about by just going through their works of art.
Just like music and good story;going to art exhibition is soothing to the soul. It takes you into another world of it's own and you get to escape from the real world to another imaginary world where you get to decide what happens next.
Art is a great gift and it is said that a man's gift maketh way for him and brings him in front of kings. Anyone who has the gift of art is as precious as an expensive jewel. He can use it to keep hope alive, to fight battles, to talk to the soul, to show love or hate , to cause humour and most importantly he can use all his works of art to make a good living too.
I bought my children's art for five thousand naira each making it ten thousand naira for both. The school made a lot of money selling our children's arts back to us. They did all the work in the school and so we were so curious to see them. Some parents have about three to four children in the school and this means they paid fifteen to twenty thousand naira to get them.
There is also what we call art auction and it was another avenue that fetched the school a lot of money. They were able to sell some of the art in an incredibly expensive price and of course it was the parents that bought them. Some bought for two hundred thousand naira while other bought for three hundred thousand naira. All these were to show support to the school and the children of course.
Art is a way of life, a blessing and a beacon of creativity.
