Lagos international trade fair is the largest gathering of SMEs in Nigeria. This event is being hosted every year in the month of November and thousands of people troop in for the biggest deal of the year.
This trade fair is always being hosted in Tafewa Balewe Square popularly called TBS in Lagos island. It brings many companies and small scale businesses in one location for what I termed life changing breakthrough. One thing that Nigeria is being known for is it's huge market and in Lagos state you can practically sell anything.
The trade fair is a ten days event and it started today being Friday 3 November. Many businesses have set up their stand already, some were still in the process while others are yet to start. Today was not dull atall as first day supposed to be as people came out to patronize these businesses.
Just as I mentioned before the exhibitors are both small scale businesses and big companies. Among the big companies that are present are Dangote, Scanfrost,Samsung, Eleganza and so many others.
The small businesses that were present are traders that deals in all types of commodities like clothes, accessories, interior decoration, shoes and so many others.
This is one tradefair that people look up to every year because they know that they will be buying in a cheaper price and also will be buying from the company itself especially for big businesses. There is absolutely nothing that you will not get in this tradefair. The exhibitors deployed many types of ingenuity to attract buyers to their stand.
I bought quiet a few things today at a very fair price considering how costly things are in this economy and they include an art work, a native dress and palm oil. The native dress was sold at 5,500 naira the art work was 10,500 naira which blew my mind while the palm oil I got it for 1000 naira. My main focus was on buying a hot plate but I was so confused that I found it hard deciding on which one to buy. I decided to wait till tomorrow before making that decision since I will be going back there. Atleast I will make a more clearer decision by then.
This tradefair is just what everyone needed. By everyone I mean both the sellers and the buyers. It's a win win situation that provides the exhibitors the platform to sell to a very huge market and also a platform for the buyers to buy all they need in an affordable price.
This was when I went to buy sharwama to eat because i was so farmished. One thing that is not cheap in this tradefair is food. A plate of rice and small meat here is 1500 naira. I know that even if they sell it 3000 naira, people will still eat because food is a necessity for life.
And also I believe that no one who is hungry will have the desire to shop.
