I will try to post as I possibly can:
If your ubuntu boot hangs on boot, starting from 16.04 and up, and you have an nvidia card, the following:
Hit "e" on grub go where you find "quiet splash" and add: nouveau.modeset=0
This should boot your ubuntu,
After installing ubuntu, you can add it by editing the file: /etc/default/grub
Find GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" and add it there,
