Something has been taken away from this earth that sorely needs to be restored! That ‘something’ is knowledge of, respect for and obedience to the government and the law of God!
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm, but the harm does not interest them … or they do not see it, or they justify it … because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
We see people not taking responsibility for their actions and the environment around them. Environmental pollution everywhere, bush burning, gas flaring by multinational companies, industrial pollution in the name of production. People go camping and do not take time to put out the camp fire thereby setting the whole forest ablaze. The Ozone layer is deplicted, weather is harsh and unpredictable the world over. There is rise in erosion, flooding, fire and all forms of severe weather.
It's time to take responsibility. It's time for the world and it's inhabitants to develop a sustainable 'character' towards the environment to safe the world from pollution and destruction. Character gives rise to discipline and responsibility. It’s the inward character that enables a person to stand firm. Character is not inherited, nor can it be purchased. It cannot be built instantly, but instead requires years of construction.
Character shows itself in a person’s consistency. You can’t get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good. Character gives you the resolve to do what’s important, even when it’s not convenient.
In addition, character brings respect. When you don’t have character within, you won’t have respect without. J.R. Miller once wrote: The only thing that walks back from the tomb with the mourners and refuses to be buried, is the character of a man…What a man is, survives him. It can never be buried.
