Hi @erh.germany . How are you doing? It has been long since we came accross.
I am not sure if I will be directly able to answering your questions or not, but I feel there are certain things I need to clarify. And there are certain other aspect that I need to make you understand about my society.
You know, joint family system is considered a sacred system here. Not all the joint families are in extreme adverse conditions but some are really too much painful, and almost all have certain problems (that otherwise won't exist in nuclear families) one way or the other. Let me tell you what I heard the other day. The story of a patient woman. She was someone who spent all the youth years of her life with a strict mother in law, and kept on serving her sisters and brother in laws. She bore their taunts. Her husband wasn't also a responsible man. She had to face financial deprivation too, but because she was an ideal woman she stayed there and managed to live her whole life patiently.
Another story... it is where the husband was a responsible man. The couple was satisfied with each other, but the in'laws were problematic. Now, because the woman was a patient lady and cannot go against the sacred system of joint family, she never urged her husband to get her a separate home. She kept on serving her in- laws for over two decades.
Another story.... a girl was married and soon after her marriage she realized that neither the man nor the family was compatible for her. She wanted to take divorce. Her immediate family supported her, but what gossips I had been hearing in all the extended families... "that girl is not a good girl. She should have tried to manage her life there. Oh God! Divorce....! How can she go for doing such a wrong deed."
You know what's the verdict I heard as a child and as an adolescent.... "whatever you study, at the end of the day you have to accomplish the home chores." This verdict is for many girls who have higher dreams than becoming a bride.
My question is if the home chores is something that a person should strive for. Home chores is the part of daily life that we all need to do.
I see several girls around me who did MBBS and right after it they got married. Afterwards, they didn't practice, because they had to save their marriages. You know, the girl might not be happy but to save her parents and herself from the taunt of the society she is likely to choose an easier path of leaving her dreams behind. There are some cases where the family of the girl supported her to acquire her dreams, but such a girl is not seen as an ideal lady in general gossips. There are not many people to appreciate her struggles and resilience.
Let me make it clear that I am not at all against marriage or motherhood. They are the two beautiful phases of life. But they are just the PHASES like many other phases, not the destinations. I am against the stories that tell us that the girl become a princess because she was married to a prince. They deliver the idea that a girl is dependent on the man to become princess. The girls are nothing without a man.... I just want to say that a girl has every potential to become a princess without a man. .... Yes,a woman do need man in her life but only as much as a man needs a woman in his life. They both need each other to complete each other, as the design of nature.
Mmmmm.... I think I haven't answered your questions yet, but I would like to ask you first.. After reading my response, do you have the same questions or would you like to modify them?
