Through out the course of life the man keeps on experiencing a variety of emotions. Fear is one of those emotions that we face quite often. It is the basic emotion the signs of which are even displayed by infants. To an extent, fear is essential for the safety of life and resources. It is the fear that make us to take precautionary measures and/or to respond with fight or flight. However, if the fear exceeds its optimal limit it is dangerous. Above its healthy limit it renders a person unable to take any action, instead it usurps a person’s ability to function properly in several realms of life. That’s why it is very important to keep one’s fear in check and be cautiously aware of its effects on our well being.
Like many other people of the world, I have faced several fears. Some of them came for the time being while others are more consistent. To combat some of them, I have practical strategies while for other I just fortify me with hopes and prayers. To name a few fears of mine I can say the fear of losing loved ones, fear of my kid’s sickness, fear of clearing an exam, fear of being judged, fear of getting old, fear of gaining weight, fear of being scammed, fear of losing hive keys 😏, fear of making a low quality post 😁 etc. The list is quite long and one blog post is not enough to talk about all of them. So, I have decided to talk about a fear that was induced in me because of my experience and also I am able to take some precautionary measures to avoid the loss.
It is the fear of being robbed at the market/crowded place. Some years ago I went to a market with my mother. I was having a big hand bag hung on my shoulder. There was a clutch in it in which I put the money. This was actually my mom who had to shop and make payments. I was only assisting her. After carrying out some shopping my mother asked me if I had a change. I put my hand into my hand bag to take my clutch out. But oooppsss! No clutch was in it. I remembered that I had closed the zip of my bag. The zip was opened and the clutch was lost. The shopkeeper noticed my unrest. He figured out what had happened and tod that pocket pickers wander in the market specifically on crowded days, so we should be very careful about our money.
After this incident I always have a fear of my money being robbed whenever I go to a market place. I take some precautionary measures to not encounter such an incident again.
🔹️ I tend to keep the clutch in my hand instead of keeping it in the bag.
🔹️ Sometimes , because of having shopping bags in the hand I fear I may not drop the clutch with money somewhere. To avoid such a situation I take a shoulder cross-over smaller bag (instead of bigger shoulder bags). I keep that bag at the front instead of setting it at a side. It lessens the chances of pocket picking to a greater extent. Also, I try to put my hand on the bag. Sticking a hand with the bag isn't a possibility but yes I keep on putting the hand on and off to assure that it is closed properly.
🔹️ Another thing that I do is to not keep all the money at one place. Instead, I divide the currency notes in different pockets of the bag. Some of the notes are in the clutch. I do so with the idea that if one pocket is picked or the clutch is taken out, the loss would be lesser.
By adopting the aforementioned strategies, I have been successful (so far) in not losing my money again. The fear makes me take steps to avoid the loss. However, I remain in fear through out the shopping time, as the incidents may happen despite our caution.
