I had intentions to write on the last HL featured topic, that was about student life. However, I couldn’t find enough time to write a post for it.
Then I came across the post for #dreem-wotw. The prompt this time is “painted skies"
I thought why not to combine the two topics and enter the #dreem-wotw contest via #creative-Sunday initiative.
I have written a poem for the contest. Before presenting the poem I would like to tell a little background of it.
I have seen several people who are not very happy for being into the journey of education. They have the opinion that formal school education adds nothing much to a person’s life.
Well, everyone has ones own unique experiences and perspective that shape their thoughts and mind-set.
For me, academic institute and student life is among the things I value the most.
Student life was something that facilitated the expression of my real self.
I could display my colours the way they were. I was appreciated for who I was.
I interacted with intellectuals who affected my thoughts and mental capacities in a positive manner.
Academic institutes had always been the place where I felt like breathing in fresh air.
During the dark times of my life, my student life came like a savior. What I learned there helped me stand through the tough times and overcome the challenges at hand.
(My eyes are heavy and sleepy right now. Crafting words seems arduous. I have had a tough weekend)
So here is the poem expressing my journey and vision about student life
She is just an ordinary pal
Just like all the community girls
Treated with love and care
But brought up with doubts and fears.
Inside her personality
She holds a radiant blaze;
But nobody's there
to appreciate her glaze.
She loves to talk about
The heights and peaks.
Her peers don’t understand
The language she speaks.
With her skills overlooked
And her worth undetected
She encloses in a shell
Underrated and neglected.
Inside the walls of academic institutes
She discovers ways to display her brilliance.
Her skills are honed, her talent well-expressed,
Her haven lies in the scholastic ambiance.
Student life gives her
The voice and wings
In the world of dreams
Now she swings and sings
In the form of books
She finds the treasure.
The pages emit light
The words give her pleasure.
She feels empowered
By the knowledge she acquires.
Accumulates wisdom, insight,
Intellect, all that she desires.
Embracing the challenges
She moves up the ladder,
Enlightening her heart
Strengthening her feathers.
Towards the heights
Then she flies
Carving her own
painted skies.
