This became pronounced in moments of major transition in my life. When I quit drinking, my partying friends didn't understand. When I got sick, even those closest to me had a hard time accepting the new me. And when I learned to manage my illness effectively, some of those who had only known me during sickness seemed unwilling to accept me as a whole and competent human being.

I value Campbell's Hero's Journey, and I can also see the points from the video. I agree with you, that our world is made up of stories and the point is to take responsibility and shift from being a passive participant to an active creator. Junk media teaches us to be passive rather than active. The right type of media, technology, and online engagement can bring about new, creative possibilities.
