El Jardín del Edén

SULI sobrevolaba por las inmediaciones de la costa del continente, frente a él, una pequeña isla se elevaba en el horizonte, un pequeño y austero edén, en medio de un mundo desértico.

―Confirmado, la isla al sur del continente posee vegetación ―dijo por el comunicador, a sus remotos controladores, situados en una nave de exploración en órbita alrededor del planeta.

―Recibido SULI, por favor explora la isla, sin descender a menos de quinientos metros ―respondieron pocos segundos después.

SULI descendió y empezó a sobrevolar dibujando círculos desde el exterior, hasta el interior de la isla, registrando, además de la frecuencia de luz visible, imágenes térmicas, ultravioleta e infrarrojas de la superficie, al tiempo que buscaba fuentes de radio y de radiación ionizante y analizaba las emisiones de gases.

―Detecto formas de vida de múltiples tamaños y formas, por sus emisiones de gases, todas son de base de carbono, hay al menos unas ochocientas formas de vida que puedo diferencia, eso sólo a nivel macroscópico ―explicó SULI, después de dos horas de sobrevolar y explorar minuciosamente la isla.

―Gracias SULI, creo que es momento de que regreses a la nave, ya ha sido suficiente por hoy ―respondió la voz del operador desde la nave.

―Entendido señor, regreso de inmediato ―tras decir esto, SULI se elevó casi verticalmente, desde su posición sobre el centro de la isla, para salir de la rojiza atmósfera del planeta y tomar rumbo a la nave de exploración.

En la nave, los tres tripulantes humanos de la misión se preparaban para recibir a la sonda y descargar la información que había registrado, tenían el curioso honor de ser los primero es explorar una de las mayores rarezas halladas hasta el momento; un planeta con océanos poblados con abundantes formas de vida, lo cual no tenia nada de peculiar, pero con un extenso continente completamente desértico, donde salvo algunas escasas formas de vida microscópicas, nada sobrevivía, lo que tampoco sería nada novedoso, si no fuera por aquella pequeña isla, de algunos cientos de kilómetros cuadrados, donde la vida macroscópica proliferaba, como un pequeño paraiso, único en el planeta.

-Understood sir, I return immediately - after saying this, SULI rose almost vertically, from its position on the center of the island, to leave the reddish atmosphere of the planet and head for the exploration ship.

In the ship, the three human crew members of the mission were preparing to receive the probe and download the information it had recorded, they had the curious honor of being the first to explore one of the greatest oddities found so far; a planet with oceans populated with abundant forms of life, which had nothing peculiar, but with a vast continent completely desert, where except a few microscopic life forms, nothing survived, which would not be anything new, if it were not for that small island, a few hundred square kilometers, where macroscopic life proliferated, as a small paradise, unique in the planet.
