Hundido en el fondo de una curiosa bahía, en una remota isla de Palas, descansan los escasos restos de lo que pudo haber significado la destrucción del planeta mismo. Antes de que el reactor del dragón fuese concebido, aquí se llevó a cabo el primer experimento que intentaba aprovechar la única energía que sería capaz de desgarrar el universo mismo, la energía oscura.
Una gigantesca cavidad de forma esférica, arrancada de la isla, daba la nueva y abrupta forma a una parte de la costa, que anteriormente albergaba una pacífica y soleada playa, en la que se encontraba el Laboratorio para Estudios de Altas Energías de la Academia de Palas.
Una noche, hace ya siete mil años, las medidas de carga del reactor de energía oscura que allí se construía, empezaron a salirse de rango. Las predicciones de los modelos, proyectaban que la llegada al punto de mayor cargar, en el que se podría empezar a operar el reactor, no se lograría en meses, pero repentinamente el nivel máximo fue alcanzado y superado, el equipo científico ignoraba un error de crecimiento exponencial en los modelos, y estimó que se trataba de una falla en los sensores.
Mientras se intentaba recalibrar los nuevos sensores, la energía que presionaba el interior del reactor intentando generar la expansión del espacio que él contenía fue sobre compensada por la intensa gravedad que era generada para ejercer fuerza en sentido contrario y esto ocasionó la expansión inesperada de la burbuja de espacio, contenida en el reactor y su posterior colapso, arrasando esto con el laboratorio y todo un costado de la isla, dejando la cavidad esférica que hoy es distinguible en el fondo de la bahía y en las carcomidas abruptas paredes de la montaña que antes era bordeada por la playa.
Al día de hoy, la única prueba de la existencia del laboratorio, es el sistema de disipación de calor de emergencia, que se encontraba a un kilómetro de profundidad bajo el laboratorio, hoy se encuentra exactamente en el centro de la circunferencia, justo bajo el lugar donde una vez estuvo el reactor, sumergido bajo ochocientos metros de agua y poco menos de doscientos de grava de lo que fuera el subsuelo de la Isla y hoy era parte del fondeo de la bahía.
Afortunadamente su expansión fue contenida, por el excedente de gravedad producido por los generadores gravitacionales, pues de lo contrario, la burbuja de espacio se hubiese extendido provocando la fractura de los componentes mismos de los núcleos atómicos de todo lo que le rodeaba, lo que simplemente pudo ocasionar la desintegración misma del planeta.
Este suceso pasó casi completamente desapercibido, no hubo una gran explosión, ni luces, ni ruido, ni siquiera una onda sísmica, que delatara la ocurrencia de tan devastador hecho, sólo, a la mañana siguiente, cuando el bote de transporte de suministros llegó a hacer su entrega, fue notado el resultado de un acontecimiento que pudo haber constado la vida de todo un mundo. Un suceso que pudo representar la última noche de Palas.

While trying to recalibrate the new sensors, the energy that pressed the interior of the reactor trying to generate the expansion of the space it contained was overcompensated by the intense gravity that was generated to exert force in the opposite direction and this caused the unexpected expansion of the space bubble, contained in the reactor and its subsequent collapse, devastating this with the laboratory and an entire side of the island, leaving the spherical cavity that today is distinguishable at the bottom of the bay and in the abrupt gnawing walls of the mountain that before was bordered by the beach.
To this day, the only proof of the existence of the laboratory is the emergency heat dissipation system, which was one kilometer deep under the laboratory, today is exactly in the center of the circumference, just under the place where the reactor was once, submerged under eight hundred meters of water and just under two hundred of gravel of what was the subsoil of the Island and today was part of the anchorage of the bay.
Fortunately its expansion was contained by the excess of gravity produced by the gravitational generators, because otherwise, the space bubble would have extended causing the fracture of the very components of the atomic nuclei of everything around it, which could simply cause the disintegration of the planet itself.
This event went almost completely unnoticed, there was no big explosion, no lights, no noise, not even a seismic wave, that gave away the occurrence of such a devastating event, only, the following morning, when the supply transport boat arrived to make its delivery, was noticed the result of an event that could have recorded the life of an entire world. An event that could represent the last night of Palas.
