Hi @xpilar
―Hola, ¿me puedes escuchar?..., hola, ¿me escuchas?...
―LUCIAN, ¿¡ME ESCUCHAS!?…―gritó nuevamente.
HERBERT explained to Lucian that when the Perseus spacecraft monitor was activated to begin preparations for the establishment of the colony, two messages, one from the solar system and one from a region of space just over two light years from the Sun, were received.
The first notified the abandonment of the Titan colony, which he explained was the last human settlement in the entire Solar System and the second came from SOCRATES, the IA of the Elpis spacecraft, which led the last humans to the nearest star, reporting the death of all forms of life aboard the spacecraft.
-Those have been the only transmissions received since the voyage began and we arrived on this planet, - continued HERBERT -. When the settlement was established our arrival was notified, the signal was radiated in the direction of both the solar system and Proxima Centauri, but we are three hundred and twenty light years away from them, the message is still a long way from being received.
-But I can assure you that Fenrir exists, I'm sure that what I see comes from someone in that colony, from someone who, somehow, I think I am myself, -said Lucian, before breaking into tears.
-I know of your visions, Lucian, but not how to help you, what you say, no matter how much you think it is real, are just dreams and hallucinations; if Fenrir exists, it is several hundred light years away from us, and there is no scientifically known way for anyone there to communicate with us instantly, -said HERBERT.
-But I know what I see, and it's so real..., I'm sure it's real, -said Lucian, crying disconsolately.
-But you have to convince yourself that it's not real Lucian, it's just a creation of your brain, -said HERBERT -. We will continue to look for a way to deal with your visions, but you must be convinced that it's not about reality, so that whatever we do, it works.
That afternoon Lucian did not attend his academy classes and went to the marshes, where he used to go with his friends to splash in the mud and chase frogs, a little further along was a region of the coast that had also been enclosed under the dome, from the beach about forty meters away, entering the sea, you could see the entrance to the small bay, which had been contained within the habitat of the colony.
In its waters several types of mollusk fish and especially crabs had been planted, mainly as a source of food for the colonist children, in the distance near the entrance to the bay, a cultivating robot was removing and emptying the cages of crabs that would probably be served at today's dinner or tomorrow's breakfast, sat for a while on the sand, watching him go from one side, until dusk began.
When he was getting ready to set foot, to return to the institute room, he was suddenly paralyzed looking at the horizon. In the distance, through the dome that began to darken to simulate the night, a thunderstorm, usually seen on the illuminated side of the planet, discharged all its fury on the ocean. His eyes were fixed on the lightning discharges, but he was not observing them at all, his mind was not in Perseus.
-Hello, can you hear me? Hello, can you hear me? -he insistently said, while he had a cloudy view of the common room of the dispensary, he perceived that unpleasant smell whose source he could not distinguish, but which seemed to come from everywhere and from himself -. LISTEN TO ME, HELLO, CAN YOU HEAR ME? -he kept shouting insistently.
The pale hands of that one, himself, who was lying on the bed of the dispensary, suddenly rose up in front of his eyes and saw how they approached to squeeze them, and then he stretched out in front of his face and turned over and over again, as if that version of his expected to find something, on his palms or on the front.
He felt himself getting up and walking towards the water dispenser across the corridor, heavy and awkwardly, dragging his feet with difficulty, as if he could not support himself well with his right leg, he moved slowly down the corridor between the beds.
-LISTEN TO ME, LISTEN TO ME! -Lucian continued shouting, waiting to be heard by the other version of himself.
He stopped in front of the dispenser and could see the pale, emaciated reflection of his own face, his white, lifeless eyes watching him through the reflection, his mouth seemed to gesticulate, as if trying to say something, but without making any sound he could hear.
-LUCIAN, do you hear me?...-he shouted again.
The head and bony face of Lucian de Fenrir swayed, heavy and repeatedly with his lost gaze, pointing up and down as a sign of affirmation. Then everything blackened and he could feel his body shuddering violently after hitting the ground.
Lucian regained consciousness on the beach of Perseus, and almost all the dome had darkened, to simulate the night, was lying side by side in fetal position on the sand. He got up and ran to the dispensary, in search of PATRICIA, who as always was in a corner of his office waiting for anyone who needed it.
-PATRICIA, do I think you are listening to me?
Thank you @xpilar, I hope the story was to your liking
