Jaguares

―No creo conveniente estar aquí por mucho tiempo, algunos de los animales son peligrosos, en esta región abundan los jaguares y osos ―dijo Manuel, claramente preocupado.

―Sí, estoy claro en eso, pero no demoraremos más de una hora, es sólo cuestión de excavar un y poco sacarlo, luego de eso nos iremos por donde vinimos ―le respondió Henry

Detuvieron el deslizador a pocos metros de un cráter de unos cinco metros de diámetro, en medio de la sabana, en el centro del, aun humeante agujero, en el suelo un pequeño montículo indicaba el lugar donde quedo enterrado el objeto que provocó semejante hoyo.

―El prospector dice que está a unos dos metros de profundidad, debemos programar el robot para que cave en un anillo alrededor, para que no haga contacto por error con él ―explicó Manuel, observando el monitor de la pistola prospectora.

―Bien sacaré y posicionaré el excavador, mientras tu programa las instrucciones ―respondió Henry.

Al cabo de quince minutos, el robot empezaba cavar dibujado un círculo alrededor del montículo central del cráter, expulsando tierra hacia el exterior del cráter, a la vez que inyectaba una espuma de polímero, para mantener estables las paredes de cilindro. Cuando estuvo a poco más de cuatro metros de profundidad se detuvo y subió nuevamente a la superficie.

―Listo ya terminó ―dijo Henry, mientras empezaba a retirar el robot.

―Henry, veo algo que se mueve entre los arboles ―dijo Manuel, que se mantenía atento al bosque que se extendía a la distancia, frente a ellos.

―Debe ser algún animal, no le prestes atención, vamos a sacar esto y a removerle la tierra para poder llevarlo, voy por el elevador, encárgate de terminar de retirar el robot ―dijo Henry, en tono de reprimenda.

Manuel empezó a desmontar el robot, sin retirar la vista del bosque, entonces pudo ver como entre los árboles se movía un enorme felino de unos dos metros y medio de largo y uno de alto, que empezó a caminar por la sabana mientras los observaba desde la distancia.

―Henry hay un jaguar viéndonos por aquel lado ―dijo Manuel, con voz entre cortada.

―Ocúpate de hacer el trabajo y podremos irnos más rápido de aquí ―respondió Henry claramente molesto.

Extrajeron el cilindro de tierra y lo recargaron en el piso, Henry tomó un emisor de pulsos sónicos para retirar la tierra que se mantenía compacta por la espuma de polímero. Empezó a disparar pulsos de sonido que hacían desmoronar la tierra, mientras Manuel se mantenía viendo hacia los árboles.

―Maldición Henry, hay un grupo de tres de esos animales que se aproximan sigilosos a nosotros, ¿qué vamos a hacer?, ¿por qué mejor no nos vamos de aquí? ―dijo mientras sacudía a Henry por un hombro.

―Ya déjate de pendejadas Manuel y si quieres que terminemos rápido, empieza subir todo al deslizador y acerca la plataforma para poder cargar esto y largarnos ―respondió Henry.

El emisor de pulsos de sonido descubrió una cápsula de datos que había sido disparada a travéz de un puente cercano al planeta y que por error se le había escapado al robot de recolección, encargado de atraparlas para llevarlas al destino.

Mientras hacían esto, uno de los jaguares inició una carrera hacia ellos, y tras él, los otros dos lo acompañaron, Manuel que vio aquello, se agachó cubriéndose la cabeza con los brazos, ante la mirada indiferente de Henry.

―¡Maldición nos van a comer! ―gritó Manuel casi llorando.

Luego de unos segundos, de estar encorvado cubriéndose y apretando los ojos, sin que nada pasara, levantó la cabeza y miró a Henry recostado de uno de los costados del deslizador viéndolo con una sonrisa burlona en el rostro.

―Si serás estúpido, estamos en un parque, idiota, los animales salvajes de aquí tiene un dispositivo que los cohíbe cuando intentan atacar a un humano, los estúpidos jaguares se regresaron por donde vinieron, ponte de pie y ayúdame a terminar con esto, que quiero regresar, ya tengo hambre.

Jaguars

-I don't think it's convenient to be here for a long time, some of the animals are dangerous, in this region jaguars and bears abound, -said Manuel, clearly worried.

-Well I'll take out and position the excavator, while you program the instructions, - replied Henry.

After fifteen minutes, the robot started digging by drawing a circle around the central mound of the crater, expelling dirt towards the outside of the crater, while injecting a polymer foam, to keep the cylinder walls stable. When it was a little more than four meters deep, it stopped and climbed back to the surface.

-That's it, -said Henry, as he began to remove the robot.

-Henry, I see something moving between the trees, -said Manuel, who was keeping an eye on the forest that extended into the distance, in front of them.

-It must be some animal, don't pay attention to it, we're going to take this out and remove the earth so we can take it, I'm going for the elevator, take care to finish removing the robot, -said Henry, in a reprimand tone.

Manuel began to dismantle the robot, without taking his eyes off the forest, then he could see an enormous feline moving between the trees, about two and a half meters long and one meter tall, who began to walk on the savannah while watching them from a distance.

-Henry there's a jaguar looking at us from that side, -said Manuel, with a cut voice.

-Take care of the work and we can get out of here faster," answered Henry clearly furious.

They removed the earth cylinder and recharged it on the floor, Henry took a sonic pulse emitter to remove the earth that was kept compact by the polymer foam. He started firing sound pulses that made the earth crumble, while Manuel kept looking at the trees.

-Damn it, Henry, there's a group of three of those stealthy animals approaching us, what are we going to do, why don't we better get out of here, -he said as he shook Henry over one shoulder.

-Cut the bullshit, Manuel, and if you want us to finish quickly, start getting everything on the slider and bring the platform up so we can load this and get out, - answered Henry.

The sound pulse emitter discovered a data capsule that had been fired across a bridge close to the planet and that by mistake had escaped the collection robot, in charge of catching them to take them to their destination.

While they were doing this, one of the jaguars started a race towards them, and after him, the other two accompanied him, Manuel who saw that, bent down covering his head with his arms, before Henry's indifferent look.

-Damn it, they're going to eat us! -shouted Manuel almost crying.

After a few seconds, of being hunched over covering himself and squeezing his eyes, nothing happened, he lifted his head and looked at Henry lying on one side of the slider, seeing him with a mocking smile on his face.

-If you're stupid, we're in a park, you idiot, the wild animals here have a device that restrains them when they try to attack a human, the stupid jaguars went back the way they came, stand up and help me finish this, I want to go back, I'm already hungry.
