Hace mucho tiempo que los humanos se apartaron de la senda guiada por la naturaleza en los caminos de la evolución. Obviamente la adaptación a las condiciones de los planetas y satélites colonizados, había, de alguna forma, generado efectos sobre la morfología humana, sin embargo, estas variaciones no causaban gran diferenciación entre los individuos.

Los originarios de Perseo, la primera de las colonias, y en líneas general la mayoría de sus descendientes en las colonias posteriores, eran altos y de contextura delgada, con una estatura mínima de un metro noventa, debido a la baja gravedad, y con amplias cajas torácicas a causa de la delgadez de la atmósfera. Mientras que los habitantes de mundos como Palas, Caronte, Cerbero y Belerofonte, solían ser de menor estatura y mayor musculatura, con hombros más anchos y tórax menos amplio, por tener condiciones atmosféricas y gravitacionales diferentes.

Estas variaciones en la contextura y estatura, habían ocurrido naturalmente y fueron el resultado de centenares de años de adaptación a las condiciones planetarias. Sin embargo, en muchos otros casos las adaptaciones fueron guiadas por la ingeniería, bioingeniería y genética. Llegándose a crear razas humanas con variaciones considerables, que aun cuando físicamente seguían siendo fundamentalmente humanos, podían tener características que les permitieren un mejor desenvolvimiento en entornos específicos en los que habitaban.

Así, por ejemplo, desde hace varios miles de años, gracias a la ingeniería genética y la hibridación, los habitantes de Susanoo, tienen una piel de pigmentación rojiza y de mayor densidad que el común de los humanos, esto como mecanismo de protección contra la radiación UV, que deja pasar su delgada capa de ozono. Mientras que los de Belerofonte tienen capas de grasa más densa en su tronco y extremidades y una piel también más gruesa y con una capa de bello más espesa que en el resto de los planetas.

Una de las alteraciones más extremas y a la vez interesantes es la que se realizó en Tritón, un mundo con una muy pequeña masa de tierra emergida, y un gigantesco océano, debido a la escasez de tierra, se construyeron ciudades flotantes y subacuáticas. Genéticamente se consiguió desarrollar en sus habitantes órganos respiratorios similares a branquias que les permiten filtrar el oxigeno disuelto en el agua para respirar durante largas inmersiones.

Si bien el organismo de estos humanos no está completamente adaptado a los requerimientos para la vida bajo el agua, si les da una mayor capacidad en muchas actividades que normalmente requieren de equipo especializado para ser realizadas y esta capacidad ha sido también el origen de nuevos juegos y deportes que son practicados por su población e incentivados por el parlamento local.

El más representativo de los eventos, de esta cultura deportiva local, es el Derbi Subacuático de Pandora, el cual se realiza anualmente en la ciudad submarina de pandora, el derbi reúne un conjunto de eventos de resistencia realizados en una pista de nado en el fondo de marino. Desde carreras de velocidad y obstáculos, hasta arrastre de pesas de diferentes masas, según la categoría.

Aun cuando el derbi está abierto a la participación de nativos de cualquier mundo, por razones obvias, en escasas ocasiones esta situación se ha dado y siempre se ha tratado de individuos con condiciones especiales, producto de mutaciones naturales o inducidas, pero sólo se ha dado el caso de un no nacido en Tritón, que haya ganado el evento, y lo hizo durante seis años consecutivos.

Immersion

Humans have long since strayed from the path guided by nature on the paths of evolution. Obviously the adaptation to the conditions of colonized planets and satellites had, in some way, generated effects on human morphology; however, these variations did not cause great differentiation among individuals.

The natives of Perseus, the first of the colonies, and in general the majority of their descendants in the later colonies, were tall and slim, with a minimum height of one meter ninety, due to the low gravity, and with wide thoracic cages because of the thinness of the atmosphere. While the inhabitants of worlds such as Palas, Charonte, Cerberus and Belerophon, used to be of smaller stature and greater musculature, with wider shoulders and less broad thorax, due to different atmospheric and gravitational conditions.

These variations in context and stature had occurred naturally and were the result of hundreds of years of adaptation to planetary conditions. However, in many other cases the adaptations were guided by engineering, bioengineering and genetics. They came to create human races with considerable variations, which even though physically they were still fundamentally human, could have characteristics that would allow them to develop better in the specific environments in which they lived.

Thus, for example, for several thousands of years, thanks to genetic engineering and hybridization, the inhabitants of Susanoo have a reddish pigmented skin with a higher density than the common human skin, this as a protection mechanism against UV radiation, which lets its thin ozone layer pass through. Whereas those of Bellerophon have layers of fat denser in its trunk and extremities and a skin also thicker and with a thicker layer of beauty than in the rest of the planets.

One of the most extreme and at the same time interesting alterations is the one carried out in Triton, a world with a very small mass of emerged land, and a gigantic ocean, due to the scarcity of land, floating and underwater cities were built. Genetically, it was possible to develop respiratory organs similar to gills in their inhabitants, which allow them to filter the oxygen dissolved in the water in order to breathe during long dives.

Although the organism of these humans is not completely adapted to the requirements for life under water, it does give them greater capacity in many activities that normally require specialized equipment to be performed and this capacity has also been the origin of new games and sports that are practiced by their population and encouraged by the local parliament.

The most representative of the events, of this local sports culture, is the Pandora Underwater Derby, which is held annually in the pandora underwater city, the derby brings together a set of resistance events held in a swimming track on the seabed. From speed races and obstacles, to dragging weights of different masses, depending on the category.

Even though the derby is open to the participation of natives of any world, for obvious reasons, on rare occasions this situation has occurred and has always been about individuals with special conditions, product of natural or induced mutations, but there has only been the case of an unborn in Triton, who has won the event, and did so for six consecutive years.
