It is proven by academics that women may overthink more than men. The study was published in Journal of Alzheimer’s disease.[1] Now it is clear that this is not a jocular statement, let’s dive in.

They have a higher blood flow in the limbic(emotional) areas of the brain than men
This increases their empathy, vulnerability, and anxiety in most fragile emotional cases. They have a more active brain than men’s.
This also might be the reason why women more often diagnosed with Alzheimer’s[3], depression and anxiety disorder.
Different effects of depression in men and women: [4]
When women are depressed[5], they overthink while when men are depressed, they often go towards alcohol and other substances.[6]
Women are more empathic than men [7]
Women involuntarily imitate other people’s emotions which is called empathy. They can feel you. There was also an experiment carried out that only buttresses this fact.[8]
Women are more likely to identify negative emotions than men[9]
There is a difference in brain connectivity, and both biological and psychosocial variables contribute to them.
Women are prone to more anxiety disorders than men
There is a difference between brain chemistry and hormone fluctuation in both sexes. Also, reproductive periods are often linked with hormonal changes which further leads to increased anxiety. This may also lead to OCD.
