Gangnam style By PSY

This single was released on July 15, 2012. The song entered the Gaon Chart singles chart at #1 upon release, spending five weeks at the peak position. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 a couple of months later, giving PSY his first chart hit in America.

The song title refers to the luxurious lifestyle associated with the affluent and trendy Gangnam section of the South Korean capital city of Seoul. (Gangham literally means "south of the river.") PSY compares to the location a sexy lady who knows when to be refined and when to get wild.

It was announced by YouTube on November 24, 2012 that the video had been watched 805 million times, overtaking the record held by Justin Bieber's "Baby," for most views.
Less than a month later, on December 21, 2012, it became the first video to reach a billion views on YouTube.

"Gangnam Style" ceased to be the king of video views on YouTube in the summer of 2017. It was usurped by Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," which hit 2,894,026,649 views on July 10, 2017, surpassing PSY's 2,894,022,885 views.

This was featured in a commercial for Wonderful Pistachios that debuted during the Super Bowl in 2013. The spot featured PSY performing the song (with the lyrics changed to "cracking Gangnam style") among people dressed like the nuts.
