It should be obvious that covid is not just the flu. It is more contagious and 10 times more deadly.

And that was the original version. We do not yet know how deadly delta variant is yet, but based on higher viral loads associated with it, seems very possible it is more dangerous.

Around the world, we have seen overflowing hospitals (such as India and even some places in US) and places where they are no longer even doing lower risk surgeries because they are overwhelmed with Covid cases. That is not the flu. Case counts for covid make the flu look wimpy.

Also, I have seen the latest misinterpretation of PCR test being deprecated by CDC, but covid tests do distinguish between flu and covid (although the tests are not perfect, of course, and can yield false positives). I had friends who went to get tested because they thought they might have covid (they had flu symptoms and they probably had the flu) and they tested negative for covid. Sadly, I've had at least 3 people tell me they think they had covid already based on flu-like symptoms, so they aren't going to get vaccinated, but none of them actually got an antibody test to confirm their guess that it was covid.

Most people I have seen who argue against existence of covid do so based on political beliefs rather than the real data (because real data that we can all see is not really disputable). In fact, I think I have seen posters here take multiple conflicting positions: sometimes arguing covid doesn't exist, other times arguing it does and the vaccines are dangerous because they are too similar to covid.

This type of cognitive dissonance is a clear sign that their reasoning ability is being compromised by what they want to believe. Normally, we can get away with this kind of thinking and there is no major harm. But when your actual life is at risk, it is time to be as clear headed as possible and try to look at the data without bias, including be willing to try to accept things you don't want to believe.
