As much as spring was celebrated these days, so much sooner did winter return to us with a cold wind, like really cold, snow smelling coldest wind.
That means only one - faster and longer steps.
I alternately warm my hands in my pockets and admire carefully will there be something interesting that catches my eye.
Statue in honor of the medieval ruler from the Nemanjic lineage.
There was a lot of noise around this monument, especially about the high paid price, for the work of the Russian sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov, an imposing figure about 23.5 meters tall and weighing 80 tons.
The pedestal is made up of various symbols, such as the cracked Byzantine helmet, as a symbol of the struggle for independence. Lots of golden sparky details.
The monument has met with a lot of negative criticism, considering that it is located on one of the larger squares, right in front of the former main railway station, and very soon a museum. Urbanistically, it separates a lot from the surroundings and that honestly does bother the eyes.
The grape is already a well-known symbol for depicting royalty and the family tree in the history of this country.
When it comes to details, I can not tell something is missing on contrary, there are a lot of spotlights that illuminate the monument from some angles that can even dazzle. This is the first time reaching it closer usually it's enough big to be seen from afar, mostly surrounded by a curious crowd.
(even trips were organized as a part of city sight)
A sword in one hand, a charter in the other. There are many historical events related to the Nemanjic lineage, but some critics hold the fact that he did not have much to do with the current capital where the monument to him was erected.
Stars and more lights, I must agree with some of the mentioned facts, it wasn't necessary to be this size, that only brought additional transport costs from Moscow to Belgrade.
But it is what it is, that fact won't stop him to stand there proudly, from my perspective may be a bit sad according to the current situation.
When you look on the brighter side, at least it serves for some proper night photography shots.
Thank you , this is my entry for the #monomad challenge, and thank you all for your time and interest in what I do.
