Some time ago I made a post about the problem of the fast advancement of the online marketplace. The issue first was started by some of the sellers in the biggest retail offline market here in the capital city. Most of them blamed the online marketplace for the decline in their overall sales.

Mostly they accuse Tiktok of its super easy to use and so many promotions that they offer to attract most of its users to use their platform for the trade and also as social media.

But that was before the issue was raised, and then the government decided to ban them from using its e-commerce feature because the permission that they acquire is only for media social and not e-commerce.

Their strategy was simple, they bought the local company GOTO, which is a big company that has Gojek (a bike ride-sharing app) and then Tokopedia (an e-commerce platform). And then it has been running for several month already. Now Tiktok can still use the e-commerce platform link to the Tokopedia, and so that they can have the license to keep the app running.
But not very sure for how long, because I guess it is so convenient for all the TikTok users to use its e-commerce feature right in their app.

The latest news of GOTO was that now all the founders for both platforms stepped down during the recent stakeholder meeting. It spreads rumors about the future of the company, whether it will still be around, or they will be killed just for the sake of TikTok's existence. only time will tell for sure.
