Back aboard the DHV Magellan, I examined a flying black cat before taking my Tri-Cruiser to the surface. Discovering my previous save progress had reset, I drove back to the Western Environmental Observatory and used heavy machine gun fire to eliminate the brigands and clear the area once more.
I returned to the private room aboard the DHV Magellan to prepare for the next deployment. Looking behind me, I spotted a cute black cat equipped with functional wings that allowed it to hover around the room.
After spending a moment admiring the flying feline, I headed down to the surface, finding my Tri-Cruiser already deployed and waiting outside rather than stowed away in the garage.
Upon stepping out, I realized Sam was not at the location where I had left him in the previous session. Instead, I had been moved near the government base, likely transported closer by the Magellan to streamline the next assignment.
I accessed the terminal, only to find the mission prompt ordering me to neutralize the brigands occupying the Western Environmental Observatory, the exact task I had completed earlier.
Realizing a save issue had wiped my recent progress, I checked my inventory, confirmed I was armed with an assault rifle and heavy machine guns, and decided to redo the mission without delay.
Mounting the Tri-Cruiser, I sped toward the observatory. I attempted a long jump over the river line along the way, but splashed down into the shallow water just as I had on my first attempt.
Crossing to the far bank, I spotted the same lost cargo crates sitting in the open, confirming the progress reset.
Refusing to let it slow me down, I used photo mode to zoom in on the observatory towers, spot the guard positions from afar, and prep my heavy machine gun.
As I drove into range, a brigand on the watchtower spotted my approach, but I opened fire immediately and knocked him off his perch. The gunshots alerted the rest of the compound, sending a wave of angry hostiles rushing toward my position.
I dropped an off-guard guard at medium range, using the heavy rounds of my machine gun to pick off incoming targets before they could close the distance.
One brigand threw a crackling electric rod in my direction, but I repositioned in time to avoid the blast.
As the surviving enemies converged on my location, a hostile flanked my side and began dealing solid damage with his rifle.
Turning away from the distant targets, I focused my fire on the flanker to put him down first, then turned my barrel back onto the remaining shooter in the distance to clear the compound.
