Hello everyone. Hope we are all fine? Well, Larry continues to enjoy the public holiday declared by the federal government in celebration of the Eid-El-Kabir. Larry says happy Eid Mubarakto all those celebrating. Larry then moves over to have a look at today in #history. Larry finds out the following historical events:
Gentlemen, Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of exploration, European exploration precisely. He finds out that one this day in 1534, Jacques Cartier, a French mariner, "discovered" Prince Edward Island off the coast of what is now Canada.
Larry being a war veteran was attracted to this piece of event. He finds out that on this day in 1913, Following a year of conflict with the Ottoman Empire, members of the victorious Balkan League disagreed over the distribution of captured lands, resulting in the Second Balkan conflict on this night, when Bulgaria attacked Greek and Serbian forces in Macedonia.
From there, Larry switches his interest to computer and technology. Larry finds out that on this day in 2007 Apple Inc.'s first mobile smartphone, the iPhone, went on sale, and it revolutionized the industry.
Once a victim of a scheme which turns out to be a ponzi, Larry shrugs upon seeing this historical piece of event. On this day in 2009, Bernie Madoff, an American hedge-fund investment manager, was sentenced to up to 150 years in jail for running the greatest Ponzi scam in history.
Finally, Larry moves over to the world of theatre and finds out that on this day in 1613, the Globe Theatre was burned within an hour when its thatch was mistakenly set aflame by a cannon marking the king's entrance onstage during a performance of William Shakespeare's Henry VIII.
