That's a thing one of our group (the only one lucky enough to have a dedicated games room !) has looked into quite a lot. Visually, it would be awesome as long as you had decent resolution battlemaps (and it's even possible to get scrolling/animated ones, for example for seascapes). The main issue is heat dissipation because you'd want to put a sheet of plastic or glass over the TV or monitor to allow players to use miniatures and dry-wipe markers.

The other thing we haven't quite worked out is what we do if it's a mixed group with some players there in person and others dialling in virtually. We could skip the miniatures and purely use Roll20, but it then means every player would need to bring a laptop be able to control their character, which could put quite a bit of load on the wifi.
