I've seen a variety of definitions for what Web3 is, and I guess for now the term hasn't been fully defined. But the one thing they all seem to agree on is that Web3 will be decentralised, and that the users will own and control access to their own data.
But I'm also seeing lots of big corporations (like Sony, in the example above) claiming to be "building Web3". It makes me wonder if they are just pinning a buzzword onto a Web2 type project, or if they are intending to subvert Web3 before it's even fully formed by forcing it into a Web2-style centralised commercial model ?
