Land outside of the city is hardly an investment like gold or crypto, unless you can speculate real estate at a large scale and buy land in some popular location and they decide to build a resort or a village for the riches there. Otherwise, a cottage in some remote rural area will require more input than the profit it generates. First, to build a cottage itself, with all proper communications will require quite a lump of money. Then you start paying every year for water, heating, electricity, gas, security, etc, etc. I don't want to discourage you and I don't know your financial situation but in my area, people relocate to rural cottages mostly when they already have shitloads of money inflows from jobs, businesses, investments, etc. to maintain the standard of living they had in the city. Ordinary people in rural areas live in their parents' houses, rebuild them here and there year after year for decades, and often don't mind using a water well and an outside toilet. Often they just can't sell their house and move to a city, because their land and dwelling are actually dirt cheap...
I would like to move to the rural too, but in my area it would cost me real shitloads of money, and pretty much the only "investment outcome" will be that I will be able to hand that land over to my children.
