To walk over the old Roman road was very amazing, we started directly on a pass in the Jura mountains, connecting Basel with Zurich. Although there is a tunnel for highway and train, but a trip over the B枚zberg and through the Jurapark is well worth the effort.
At the beginning, the road is still well preserved and you also walk on it, the whole piece is only about 500 meters long.
In ancient times this crossing was very important. The road was partially excavated directly from the limestone rock.
This road was used until the 13th century and later substituted by a new road.
The well visible traces, cart tracks, were formed by cart wheels passing over it several times. They show how active this pass was at that time.
Already the ancient Romans used to give gifts of flowers.
