If you are in Brasov area, nearly you will find the Risnov castle, built about 13th century, a medieval fortress built for survival in Transylvania, Romania. You can walk up or take a small train to the entry. I've traveled to this region many times by car, but unfortunately never had the time to visit. That's why I was even more pleased to be able to do so in the last summer. Unfortunately, our joy was short-lived; we didn't get to see the interior because it's been undergoing renovations for a long time. The castle is famous for its deep well, dog in the solid rock. Originally was built as a refuge for the local population against Tatar invasions. Its massive walls, defense towers, and about 90 meter deep well have survived many Sieges.

Visitors can visit the garden of Râșnov Fortress, with access based on tickets acquired at the gate. You can also have a snack. The garden hosts a variety of cultural and historical events throughout the year, such as medieval festivals, craft fairs, and historical reconstructions.

We took the train up and walked down, so we could admire the beautiful scenery.
