Out and up in Scuol ski area this resort like many others in Switzerland has preserved its cultural values and its intact nature. In winter more than 13 lifts bring quickly the lovers of sports to the high alpine ski resort of Motta Naluns. As I have just read the name Scuol comes from the latin scopulus cliff.
When the weather is not so nice in Scuol you can also in one of the twenty mineral water springs used as mineral baths enjoy a rest.
Scuol is located in the Lower Engadine in the canton of Graubünden. The Engadine is located in the southeast of Switzerland in the border triangle with Austria and Italy. The main language here, as in the whole Lower Engadine, is Vallader Rhaeto-Romanic.
Scuol is also known for its traditional Engadine houses with their typical sgraffito, a decoration technique for the treatment of wall sections.
