The day started with a little bit of traffic on my way to school. I held my gifts tightly and strutted my way into my classroom. I said hi to my classmates and sat down. Honestly, I was out of breath after walking one too many flights of stairs lol
After settling down, I decided to give my gifts to my friends. The first gift I gave was a crochet rose. It was for a friend who has a huge love for roses. The flower itself is a part of her name after all. She's as beautiful as a rose as well. After seeing her gift, she was squealing with excitement. I was so happy about that.
The second gift I gave was a crochet cat hat. I gave it to my good friend, @rainebow0407. Her reactions are always timeless! She said "Hala love jud ani ni Al" and, it meant "Oh my, Al really loves me." She has been looking forward to having that specific hat, so I decided to make her one hehe.
Into the next gift, we go! I gave donuts to a bunch of my friends. But there's one particular person to whom I was a little bit nervous about giving donuts. She's someone I wanted to be close with. Being the awkward person that I am, I never had the chance to become friendly with. We only got to interact when we were groupmates and we had a wonderful time, that was about it. Despite that, I opened up to my friends about it and they encouraged me to just go for it, and so I did. It went pretty well considering the reaction that I got. She said thank you and a few minutes later she was giggling with her friends, it was adorable, not gonna lie hehe
And lastly, I gave a gift to a dear friend of mine who LOVES Nami from One Piece. I decided to give her a small Nami figurine. She literally yelled so loudly, enough for all of our classmates to hear. I loved her reaction as well lol.
Just so you know, I wasn't the only one who was giving gifts. My friends gave me gifts as well. I was given coffee, a letter, a lollipop, and a flower. I must admit that I was over the moon, however, it's a feeling that I will never get used to. As someone who's "The Gift Giver", it really hits differently and I hope that I'll never get used to that feeling.
I thought that my Valentine's Day would end with me and my friends admiring our gifts, but it didn't. I was invited to join a Chemistry Quiz Bowl that was held exactly that day. It was a wonderful opportunity but honestly, I didn't want to join. I was full of dread because I didn't study and Chemistry isn't really my forte. I was literally informed about joining the contest the day of and I was so scared but my friends encouraged me once again huhu. I wasn't afraid of losing, I was terrified that I'd end up in last place and embarrass myself in front of super-smart people.
On the brighter side, I was allowed to get 10 points in my Chem exam. I was also given the chance to spend time with 2 of my classmates. One of them was the girl I was shy about lol. Both of them are so brilliant, I was quite honored to compete with them in that quiz bowl.
While we waited for the contest to start, the 3 of us talked and tried to make the vibe a little lighter. It worked so well though, in the first round, I got a lot of right answers. But in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, I was getting fewer answers right (that's to be expected since I didn't really study lol.) However, my friends were doing so well throughout the whole quiz, and I think that really surprised them both since they didn't get a lot of time to study too. I ENDED UP BEING IN THE TOP 15 AND THEY LITERALLY ENDED UP WINNING 3RD PLACE AND 6TH PLACE!
I am quite grateful to have experienced these things during the day of love. I was and still am overwhelmed with happiness. I am so fortunate to be able to have those opportunities and take them. That day particularly, has changed the essence of Valentine's Day for me. From 2024 and onwards, I look forward to Valentine's Day to revolve around being grateful for what I have, it isn't just about romantic relationships. Love is something that is always around us, it's up to us to interpret and put it where we think it belongs.
That day has really grounded me and filled me with feelings of happiness. Oddly enough, I don't really want to be this happy all the time. I think being super happy is a reward. We don't get to be happy all the time, but that's what makes it such a good feeling. It lingers for a while and goes away, it is a cycle of the highs and lows that continues.
I admit that I have my lows often but I think that's perfectly okay. I have family and friends who support me no matter what. I know that they'll always have my back.
If anyone reads this blog this far, I want to thank you, dear reader. I hope that your day of love was also filled with happiness! If not, don't be discouraged cause you'll always have next year and onwards hehe
