Within me, in my guts I keep courts disposed to judge me, courts with insomnia that never sleep because always in my being there is a case requiring attended immediacy and severity, because if of something I am sure is that nobody treats me as hard as my internal judges. I observe with what I learned yesterday, with what I have accumulated throughout the years, I look at the faces of each presence in that court. My mind is a specialist in constructing remorse, specifying my mistakes, and repeating to me over and over how I should have acted in one or another situation.
Without doubt we know that internal critical voice, it is a voice, a court, that is created with the passage of time and the influence of those who surround us, nourished by contexts, past experiences, and already created social structures. That voice can be a guide but the majority of the times it is sentence. We internalize our own internal judgments as an omen of a destiny, and there arise the problems: if our judge once told us "you have failed," the next time we will fear to try and hear again its severe voice repeating the same: "you have failed."
We self-evaluate to the extreme, in the cruelest way, and we affect thus our self-image, that which we believe we are: we become judged and wounded beings who seek to blame someone for our misfortune, but many times we do not realize that it was us—our judge—who first punished us and sentenced the path.
In us hides the hardest judgment, not in the words of others; we are our own condemnation and the very internal tribunal our gallows. That which we did not say, that which we did not do, twisted decisions of an uncertain destiny, cowards before the abyss full of opinions—all that we obtain from our ruthless and cruel judgment, not from any external influence.
But for judging ourselves cruelly we should not cease to judge ourselves either, and although it may seem rhetoric, nobody teaches us that, but the majority of the times we put judgment upon judgment and arrives: the silence. The final judgment, the inaction.
Every error you commit or believe to commit, every silence, is a complicity with that corrupt judge of self-sabotage. And sadly we have no defense in this intimate tribunal.
We are self-imposed chains of an ephemeral existence without manual, so why do we demand of ourselves such a great perfection that we do not expect it from others? Why do we forgive others more easily than ourselves? It is perhaps the result of a life where they ripped out our innocence prematurely and threw us into a merciless world where errors are paid with suffering...
Observe yourself with love, do not be your judge anymore in moments where you do not need to be judged and yes defended. Self-imposed judgments without compassion are unnecessary punishment, and punishing oneself constantly is paralysis and inaction. Do not seek absolution from your internal tribunal, you will not find it; seek truce with your world, with yourself, between an I that you were and the I that you are—or better, the I that you could become.
