What is the science of education?

Definition of pedagogy

Education is the art and science of teaching, and has a great impact on building the confidence of students and teachers in the educational process, and includes a set of strategies for effective teaching, so that each group of students require a different strategy to improve the level of learning, there is no unified scientific approach fits all grades and all situations; Strategies that are appropriate to the education of specific skills and others that are appropriate to the students' backgrounds, abilities and learning patterns. These strategies must be supportive of intellectual participation between students and teachers, and the interdependence of the wider world and others. [1]

An overview of education in the twenty-first century

Today's students are active learners and not just spectators. They participate in building information and key ideas. The principles of modern education today are based on the personalization, participation, and productivity of students in the classroom. This learning environment allows for learning in the context of reality, From start to finish, and solve problems that appear to students. Schools in the 21st century must rely on innovative teaching strategies supported by research and studies, to achieve a significant shift in the performance of education . [2]

Effective Education Standards

There are many criteria that determine the effectiveness of education, among which are: [3]

1 - Joint productive activity between the teacher and the student : The joint activity between the teacher and the student results in a high academic achievement, and indicators that the teacher:

  • Arranging the classroom seats to suit the needs of individual and group students to facilitate communication between them and some of them and between the teacher.
  • Designing educational activities that require collaborative work between students and teachers.
  • Planning with students about how to work in groups, in order to enhance interaction.

2 - Language development across the curriculum : Literacy is the key to success in school, so linguistic development, which can not be separated from one another, should be promoted. These include social language used in daily life and official academic language.

3 - Teaching through dialogue : The best way to teach is to reach the desired goal through dialogue and conversation, which is based on questioning and exchange of ideas; where the teacher listens carefully, and comment on the views and responses of students.
