We got up pretty early this morning and got on the road at about 9 am. Which is pretty good. We have been working really hard on all fronts and this morning we had to do some packing, dishes and make sure that we felt ready to go. It was great to leave for this one as it has been such a long struggle and I feel like things are starting to open up again.
Evidence of this, things opening up for me, can be found in one of the last things I did before we left. I opened up the mailbox to empty it out before leaving and I found a strange envelope. One that looked oddly familiar. A couple of years ago, I was really into flipping sports cards. I would buy them on ebay, have them shipped to my house, sell the ones that were not as good in person for a slight loss, and sell the ones that were great for big gains. It worked out pretty good, but it was a lot of effort so I sold most of the cards and bought into some crypto-currencies instead. Was that a good idea??? Time will tell, but I am still pretty bullish on this space. I digress... What I found in the mail was an envelope that looked like a card. I used to get a card or 3 in the mail daily. This envelope was post marked January 2017!!! It arrived today, the day I leave for vacation. The day that I leave for a vacation on a leap of faith based on an open schedule due to quitting the daily grind for the "handyman hustle".
I opened the envelope. It was an Auston Matthews Young Guns card! This might not mean very much to you, but it is a card that sells for between $150 and $1000 depending on its condition. It is also a card that I did really well on in my card flip business. I have a picture of it, but the laptop I am on is not really too good and is not allowing me to upload images :(
Regardless, I saw it as a wonderful omen. Wealth is not found in working yourself to the bone. Wealth is found in an attitude, a frame of mind, an awareness... and the willingness to work too. I left my daily grind on a leap of faith. Things have been going ok, but are far from solid at this point. But, every step I take I am given the glimpse that I am on the right track... a better track.
The drive was great. We batted around the idea of leaving last night, but decided that was just added stress. Instead of going with the flow, we would have to work really hard to get there tuesday night. This morning was a wonderful time for a drive. I like vacations where the drive is the vacation, not the destination. We had a great drive Beautiful scenery, fun mountain roads, wildlife (We saw eagles, mule deer, mountain goats, hawks...)
We arrived at our villa and it is great. If you google fairmont british columbia images (I would show you but I cannot upload images... I am on vacation ;) the first image you will see is likely where I am staying. Wonderful cedar row houses with lofts and wood burning fireplaces. The first stop was the pool, hot tubs, steam room. What a lovely place to be. We BBQ'd and now I am blogging by the fire.
I am going to take it really easy and enjoy. I will keep you posted too!
