I used to (still do a bit just to heat the house) mine BTC / LTC. I now mine more value by pooling assets, curating content etc. POW is still incredibly secure when there is lots of hashpower mining that currency. This I feel is likely the one thing that will keep POW alive. You cannot get more secure than a healthy, decentralized POW coin.
