We got an insurance adjuster who sends a bit of work our way. She called us because she has a soft spot for old people and she knows that we are fair and won't try to take advantage of him. He was getting new windows installed and the installers noticed moisture and the insurance case was opened.

We opened up under the window and found rotten wood, still wet, mold... it was a mess.

This gap in the siding was likely the culprit. If you do your job right, these problems don't arise... but then I'm out of work... so, good work sider ;)

We didn't expect to have to go down so far, but the moisture rotted out all the way through to the floor support. It was a good thing that it was a box out, so it was relatively easy to fix as there was no real structural damage. We had to replace a floor member and that is it.

Everything going back together.

The homeowner said that he would paint it, so we left it ready to paint. He is an old guy and wants to have "something to do to keep me busy." We obliged.

Here it is on the outside. No gap in that siding, plus we tied in some construction paper and an extra layer of sheathing so there is way more protection against the elements.

He was really happy to have his living room back. It feels really good helping people.
