ACEH HAS THE LARGEST DISASTER OF ON SUMATRA.

A multipurpose reservoir worth Rp 1 trillion

Kreung Keureuto Dam will have a capacity of 167 million cubic meters, with a puddle of 900 hectares.

With the potential of the dam, it is estimated that the largest reservoir in Sumatra could be a hydro power of a hydro power plant capable of producing 7 megawatts (MW), and this is sufficient for Aceh Utara.

Krueng Keureutoe Reservoir is also planned to accommodate 4,438 hectares of Alue Bay irrigation water, and add irrigation water supply around Krueng Pase.

Krueng Keureutoe Dam can also become a raw water provider for the Tirta Mon Pase Water Company (PDAM) because it has a water capacity of 167 million cubic meters, with a puddle of 900 hectares.

For the initial planning, the construction of this dam has spent Rp12 billion. The physical construction of the dam in 2013 requires Rp1.025 trillion.

The development fund is part of the dam construction project by the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing. The ministry has plans to build 13 dams in several areas with a total budget of Rp11.72 trillion.

Minister of Public Works and People's Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said, the construction work of Keureuto Dam is implemented with multiyear budget 2015-2019. The dam will be the largest dam in Sumatra.

Local transmigration center

In addition to tackling floods and providing water supplies for land and clean water, the Bupati of North Aceh Muhammad Thaib plans to create a local transmigration program around this dam.

"Our difficulties of life can be brought here to start a new life, we will help them with land, seedlings and living expenses for three months," he said.

The number of residents that can be accommodated in the initial program of transmigration is estimated at about 3000 inhabitants. -
