By two I am known as Mummy
I love to write poetry
to make sense of the world around me
it's like therapy
opening up in beautiful vulnerability
a mind splurge, an emotional purge - it takes the weight of reality
and I get a real buzz taking words from the page to the stage
a chance to connect and resonate with people through music, words, rhythm & rhyme
I feel it's now the time…
to share and to shine
My life journey has brought me from the UK to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Spain, where I live in an off-grid community with my two daughters close to my dear friend and fellow poet @trucklife-family who introduced me to Hive.
We arrived here five years ago 32 weeks pregnant drawn here by Da a Luz Wise Women's Oasis whose mission it is to keep traditional birth wisdom alive with a holistic approach to gentle birth.
Poetry is my passion. Feeling connected and alive with life is my mission.
I have written poems since I was a little girl and the first time I read one out loud in front of an audience I was so nervous I discovered I could Rap!
I was as shocked as my friends watching in the audience. I was 24 and discovering my gift was a gift to myself to truly express myself, it changed my life.
Before shit got weird I was performing in Spoken Word Poetry Slams and was meant to be performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London June 2020. But the universe had other plans so I ended up joining a band and started to write Rap again taking things to the next level.
I enjoy watering many seeds of inspiration to creation and my writings cover many topics and flavours. Ones I hope you will enjoy.
I'm currently in two bands and collaborating with some beautiful creative musicians, writers and photographers and i'm looking forward to sharing the creations on here.
Warmest wishes,
Love Ali P
