Hey, Steemians!
I am very happy today. I was still having a few ethers on www.ethereumwallet.com. I have purchased them when ether was really low. For the newbies in crypto world, this was one of the first on-line wallets available for Ethereum. For whatever reason, I did not move them into a paper wallet, just saved the link, my password and my address without putting the funds in a more secure place.
All went well for a couple of years, checking from time to time the account, but without making any transactions with them, until last month when for whatever reason the password didn't work anymore. It seems that many users had the same issues with it starting with September 2017. Even if I have contacted Jaxx support(currently responsible for the legacy accounts) for some info, I haven't received any clear answer.
Unfortunately, I didn't have neither the .json file saved, neither the private key. Big mistake not to have a back up of them - that was a lesson learnt.
However, by searching on the internet, I came across a potential solution which got my funds back in a few minutes. To recover it, you will still need the initial wallet link and its password.
There is a way to access your private key and from there you will be able to transfer the funds. Let's see the steps:
I did all the steps using Firefox browser and successfully transferred my Ethers. I'm not an affiliate of Jaxx or Ethereum, this is some information gathered from the internet. Use it cautiously!
ethereumwallet.com will be discontinued, so you need to move your legacy funds before April 15, 2018.
