Pollution has emerged as a major issue worldwide. Pollution refers to the introduction of substances into the environment land, water, and air that have a harmful effect on human and animal life. When these unhealthy changes affect our environment it is called pollution.
Environmental pollution is closely linked to population growth. As the population increases so does the number of vehicles on the roads and the smoke emitted by buses cars and trains is harming the air and posing health risks to humans.
Progress has also contributed to environmental pollution. Factories and industries discharge waste into rivers and seas without proper treatment leading to increased pollution which is harming aquatic life and causing a decline in their populations.
Floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and fires are natural disasters that have repeatedly posed threats to human life and property. Climate change is a significant factor contributing to the increase in the occurrence and destruction caused by these disasters.
Numerous conferences have been held worldwide to address pollution focusing on controlling the rapidly increasing air pollution. If we want to improve the environment we must play our part.
The dirty water and toxic waste from cities should be treated and cleaned before being discharged into rivers and seas. Vehicles emitting excessive smoke should be banned and fines imposed on those violating this rule. A suitable arrangement should be made to collect and incinerate waste. A complete ban should be imposed on plastic bags and awareness campaigns should be launched to educate people about environmental pollution. A noise should be raised about the increasing environmental pollution in the air.
Arrangements should be made to plant more trees and the reckless cutting of forests should be stopped as forests are an excellent means of purifying the air and maintaining a healthy environment. Therefore we should take the lead in planting trees and plants in our homes, streets, and neighborhoods, so that others may follow our example and join in this noble cause.
