Proverbs they say, is the oil with which words are eaten. A very interesting proverb which marked a remarkable encounter in my life is 'Do not judge a book by its cover'. This means, Do not judge someone or something by appearance alone.

MY PERSONAL ENCOUNTER
Back then in school, in my 300l. There was this my course mate by name Kelly. He looked so 'rugged' in appearance. He had dreadlocks, with ear rings and tattoo. By his appearance, I saw him as a bad and arrogant guy and I would not have anything to do with him. We would just pass each other and greet hi, but I never had a one on one conversation with him.

In our second semester 300l during our industrial work experience in Biochemistry Laboratory. We were to contribute #5,000 each for lab. reagents for the practical session. I didn't have money to contribute and I was sent outside, with two other guys. The rest continued with the practical in the lab. To my greatest surprise, this same guy Kelly, who I had judged to be bad left the practical in the lab, walked out to me and asked me what was the problem why I have not paid. I told him that my parents were yet to send me money for the practical. He dipped his hand in his pocket, brought out #5,000 and gave it to me to go and pay. In addition to that, he even said I should not bother to pay him back. I was so surprised and shocked to the marrow. After the practical, we exchanged contacts and became friends. I discovered that he was such a handsome soul, very kind and humane. He was not bad as I judged from his appearance.

Moral lesson
Most times we condemn people because of how they appear or what they wear. Not knowing that they have the purest of hearts. On the other hand too, some people may appear so holy and pious, but they are wolves in sheep clothing.
Since my encounter with Kelly, I leanrt to judge people by their deeds and never by their appearance.
