Splinterlands Showdown_ Three Rule Sets.png

What a great battle where high health monsters and strong strikers were selected. Both teams chose very strong monsters and the main reason for this was that it was an extremely high mana battle. In this 91 mana battle we got a very good opportunity to select the strongest cards from our decks and position them properly.

Mostly my win percentage is quite high in high mana battles because we get a good chance to select our monsters. Especially if you do not get many restrictions in the rule set you can choose your monsters more according to your own preference. But if restrictions are added you should understand those rule sets and make your plan accordingly.

Certainly I would say that 50% of your victory depends on understanding the rule set correctly. The other 50% depends on your monster selection and how you adapt your strategy.

In this 91 mana battle there were three special rule sets. One was neutral one was advantageous and one was a restriction. So I had to adapt my plan according to these rule sets.

First of all before we move toward the battle, it is important to understand which rule sets appeared and what strategy and plan I adapted according to them.

Rule Set 1: WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU...

According to this rule set all units whether they are allied units or enemy units get the Enrage ability when they are below full health. And what happens with Enrage is that they get plus 50% melee power and speed which is very good. This applies only to units that are not at their full health and the value is rounded up.

This means that according to this rule set high speed monsters and monsters with melee power get an advantage. During the battle if your units are not at full health they will get an additional 50% melee power and 50% speed which makes them even stronger.

So what strategy should you adopt according to this rule set? You should try to line up as many of your strongest melee attackers as possible. This will increase their melee power by 50%. That is why you can see that I lined up my first four monsters with melee attackers.

Rule Set 2: OUTSIDER

According to this rule set you are allowed to summon only one Wild unit. If you have more Wild cards in your deck you cannot select them because they will be disabled.

So according to this rule set your strategy should be to select the strongest Wild card from your deck preferably one that has strong health and high attack power.

Rule Set 3: NOXIOUS FUMES

This is the rule set that brings a restriction and a disadvantage for all units. According to this rule set all units whether they are enemy or allied units get Poison at the start of the battle. The units affected by Poison lose 2 health every round.

So according to this rule set you should adopt a strategy where you select monsters from your deck that have high health and high armor. This will help your monsters survive in the battle for a longer time and be protected from Noxious fumes rulset

I CHOSE DEFENSIVE STRATEGY

Keeping these rule sets in mind what strategy did I adopt and what was my monster selection?

First of all for my archon monster I selected with +1 Health ability. Because of this all of my units would get 1 health at the start of the battle which is an excellent counter against Noxious Fumes.

After that I placed my strongest monster card in the front position which would work as a strong tank monster. It also had 2 melee attack power so it would continue attacking every round.

In the second position I selected a monster with the Reach ability. By staying in the second position it would continue attacking. Normally a melee attacker can only attack from the first position but a monster with Reach can also attack continuously from the second position.

In the third position I again selected a melee attacker because we wanted to take advantage of the Enrage ability. This monster was also a special healer. As soon as it came to the first position it would attack and also heal itself which gave me an advantage.

In the fourth position I placed a mix of melee and magic attacks. The advantage of this was that even while staying in the fourth position it could continue doing at least its magic attack.

Finally in the fifth and sixth positions I selected high attack ranged and magic attackers. They would continue attacking while staying in the backline positions.

ENEMY LINEUP WAS STRONG ENOUGH

When I looked at the enemy lineup on the battlefield the opponent had some very strong strikers which became a problem for me. Because if Noxious Fumes and high attackers continue together they can become a very dangerous combination and can easily help eliminate units.

Since heavy strikes were happening from both sides and Noxious Fumes was also active in Round 2 one of my units and one of the opponent's units were eliminated.

In Round 3 another one of my units was eliminated while five of the enemy units were still alive and I was continuously receiving heavy strikes.

In Round 4 another one of my units was eliminated. At this point the battle reached a position where it was four versus two.

I was thinking that maybe I would lose this battle. But as soon as Round 5 started because of the Noxious Fumes rule set three enemy units were immediately eliminated and one of my units was also eliminated.

So in Round 5 as you can see in the screenshot the battle was reduced to one versus one.

It was such a close battle that I lost this battle by just one health point. If you look at the one-versus-one battle the enemy card had two health remaining while my card had only one health left. This was certainly a negative point for me.

And this is how I lost the battle. But this battle was extremely great and interesting and it remained exciting until the very end.

With these kinds of rule sets what would your strategy be? Which monsters would you prefer? will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
