Todays 20 mana battle was very special for me because it came with three unique rulesets that were both interesting and challenging.
This was a 20 mana battle which is considered a low mana battle. In these battles you need to choose your monsters very carefully and follow a good strategy.
Since the mana cap is low, your mana is almost full after selecting just two or three monsters. That is why you need to build a team that matches the rulesets and enter the battlefield with a proper strategy to increase your chances of winning.
My win rate in 20 mana battles is usually not very high because I have fewer choices when selecting monsters. A single wrong selection can easily cost me the battle.
Let's first understand these three rulesets and then I will explain the strategy I used to build my team.
REVERSE SPEED
The first ruleset was Reverse Speed. In this ruleset monsters with the lowest Speed attack first. This means slow monsters have the highest priority. If a monster has 0 or 1 Speed it will attack before the faster monsters. Keeping this in mind it is better to choose monsters with low Speed but strong stats and powerful abilities.
FALLEN LEGENDS
The second ruleset was Fallen Legends. In this ruleset you cannot select Legendary Archons. This limits your choices because only Common, Rare and Epic Archons are allowed. The best strategy is to use a strong Rare or Epic Archon. This is why it is important to have different types of Archons in your deck so you are prepared for any ruleset.
OUTSIDER
The third ruleset was Outsider. This ruleset allows you to summon only one Wild unit. This is another restriction during the battle. The best strategy is to choose your strongest Wild monster that can cover a weakness in your team and provide the most value.
If we combine all three rulesets the best strategy is clear. Choose monsters with the lowest Speed because they gain a huge advantage in Reverse Speed.
Build your team around a non Legendary Archon and use your one Wild unit wisely by selecting a monster with strong abilities.
I had only one option for my Archon and that was Aurelia.
For my first monster I selected Vengeful Monk as my main tank. It has 4 health, 2 speed and 2 Melee Attack. It also has the Opportunity ability which allows it to target the enemy monster with the lowest Health.
For my second monster I selected Deputy which is a Ranged attacker. It has the lowest Speed in my deck so it had the best chance to attack first in the Reverse Speed ruleset. It deals 2 Ranged damage and was one of the key monsters in my strategy.
This turned into a close 2 vs 2 battle and it was very exciting to watch. However because I made the right monster selections and entered the battle with a strong team combination I was able to secure a great victory.
In battles like this it is also important to include at least one monster with high attack power. Low mana battles usually have monsters with lower Health so a strong attacker can eliminate enemy monsters quickly and give you a big advantage.
Considering these three rulesets which monsters would you choose and what strategy would you use? Will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
